Oak 2025-2026
Autumn 1 - This term in Oak has been action-packed! We have been
learning all about the ‘Vicious Vikings’, discovering how they were traders, raiders, and settlers. On Topic Day, we created dragon eyes, designed shields, and tested catapults by launching marshmallows! We have also loved Forest School and our football sessions with Kidderminster Harriers.
Recently, Year 6 enjoyed a STEM Day and Bronze Ambassador training at Oldbury Wells, representing the school brilliantly!
Autumn 2 - Oak Class had an action-packed term! They enjoyed learning about Charles Darwin and evolution, particularly investigating Darwin’s finches and completing a science investigation. The pupils also took part in a successful parent workshop, where they planned and built bridges alongside their families. Oak Class pupils had a brilliant time at Thinktank in Birmingham. In the morning, they explored chemical reactions in the laboratory, becoming real scientists. The group made carbon dioxide using a vinegar reaction and created slime from borax and clear glue. All pupils enjoyed exploring the hands-on experiences around the museum. The class had been getting into the Christmas mood, practising the Christmas songs, and the choir attended the Oldbury Wells Trust event, where they performed fantastically.
Spring 1 -
This half term in Oak Class, we have been travelling back in time to the Tudor period! We have loved exploring what life was like during Tudor times, discovering fascinating facts about daily life, clothing and diseases. During Topic Day we dressing up in fantastic costumes and immersing ourselves in the past for the day.
Alongside our history learning, the children have been attending SATs boosters, approaching them with great focus and a positive attitude. Some children also took part in a rugby tournament, where the children showed brilliant teamwork and sportsmanship. We were also lucky to have Bookfest visit, giving the children the opportunity to discuss books and share their ideas and opinions.
The children have also begun creating their artwork for upcoming competitions, carefully planning and developing their ideas. Don’t forget—we are aiming to read as many of the books as possible before the 20th of March, so please keep encouraging reading at home.
