Times of the school day

School runs from 8.45am - 3.15pm (32.5 hours per week)

Breakfast Club : entry via small blue gate on Daddlebrook Road.  Open from 7.30-8.30.

School start: The recreation ground gate and new school gate will be open from 8.35 to 8.55.

Children who arrive unaccompanied by an adult before 8.30am will be placed in our breakfast club for which there will be a charge. Children must be supervised by their parents / carers until the doors open at 8.45am. Football and other games are not allowed before school because of younger children and adults’ presence on the playground at this time. Please do not bring dogs onto the playground.  The school gates are locked at 9.00am and reopened at 3.10pm.

School end: The recreation ground gate and school gate will be open from 15.10 – 15.25

Access to school at all other times will be via the security gate when the button should be pressed to speak to reception.  The gate will be released when the administrator has spoken to the visitors and identified them on the CCTV monitor.

Please note these timings and ensure that children are not arriving too early as they will not be able to access school unless they attend Breakfast Club.  Please remember that the car park is not a safe place for children to wait around.

School security

The staff and governors at Alveley are fully committed to maintaining the safety of the children and the security of the building. The school building has an alarm system and all possible measures are taken to ensure that access to the school is monitored. All visitors are requested to report to the school office and sign the visitor’s book. All exterior doors have security locks to restrict public access.

Accessibility

Disabled access is available throughout the school. A disabled toilet is available in school.

Information for families

Please ensure that the school office has your full address and contact details. You should also provide an emergency contact number for another family member or friend who we could contact should you be unavailable. Please remember to let us know if you change your telephone or mobile number. Please provide an email address if possible.

Absence

If your child is unable to attend school for any reason please telephone or e-mail the school office to let us know. We also require a written note explaining absence when your child returns to school. If your child has sickness or diarrhoea we ask that he/she does not return to school for 48 hours as this kind of illness can be very infectious.

Please click here to view the guidance if your child has an infection or illness and the recommended period to be kept away from school.

Punctuality

The school day begins promptly when the bell rings at 8.45am. Please ensure your child is not late for school. Children who are late will be marked late in the register. Any late attendance is recorded on the end of year school reports to parents and persistent lateness may be followed up by our Education Welfare Officer (EWO).

Road safety

We encourage families to walk to school if possible. If you need to drive to school please be aware of where you park and the safety of your children as they cross the road. We will do everything possible in school to include road safety awareness as part of the curriculum.

Holidays during term time

If you need to request permission for your child to be absent from school for a family holiday please complete a permission form obtainable from the school office. However we would request that you avoid holidays in term time unless the circumstances are 'exceptional'. We encourage punctuality and 100% attendance at school throughout the year and work closely with the Educational Welfare Officer to ensure that our pupils do not miss school.

Additional Staff Duties

As a member of the TrustEd group, we operate a staff forum to ensure we have a voice in the Trust.

Currently we have no staff who have additional union responsibilities.
