Children are encouraged to drink water freely throughout the day. A water dispenser is available for the children to obtain chilled water. Drinking bottles can be refilled during the day.
Children in reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are provided with free fruit each day. The younger children may also have school milk. Healthy snacks for children in years 3, 4, 5 & 6 may be brought from home. No nuts or sweets please. We do have children in school with a nut allergy.
We have been awarded level 5 from the foods standards agency .
Next term we shall be purchasing our school dinners through Telford and Wrekin Council. All meals will be freshly cooked on the premises by our cook. We are doing away with aeroplane style plastic trays and replacing these with plates and bowls.
The menu we have chosen is run on a three weekly cycle change. Fresh ingredients will be used from local suppliers. The cheeses are from Nantwich; sausages from Welshpool; meats from Wales, sourced locally to Shropshire; pizza bases from Shrewsbury; free range Shropshire eggs; dried goods from Ludlow and yoghurts from Muller in Market Drayton.
As previously children will be asked to specify their choice of main course during morning registration. The cost will remain at £2 and please remember that every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year2 is entitled to a FREE school dinner every day.
New trolleys and disposal units will be in place by the end of March. Our excellent dinner ladies Sarah Graham and Susan Plant overseen by Jackie Jones, are on hand to encourage your child to eat and enjoy their chosen lunch. Yoghurts, fresh fruit and cheese and biscuits will be available daily.
Please do take a look at the menus and share them with your child. I am quite sure there is something to suit even the fussiest child!
