Exams Analysis Alveley Primary School Sept 2018:   Extracts from SEF

 

 

 

Outcomes for pupils in KS2 have risen strongly since the School came under new leadership and governance.

  • Specifically Reading Writing and Maths combined standards have risen fast and are now very strong.
  • They have risen from a very low base (0%) to above national in combined RWM at expected level.
  • The number of learners achieving the exceeding standard in RWM is 7% (national is 11%). NB: small cohort means this is within one child, although it is a SIP area for 2018.

2. Outcomes for pupils in KS2 have risen strongly since the School came under new leadership and governance.

  • Specifically the individual components of Reading Writing and Maths and also GPS have risen fast and are now strong.
  • The three-year trend for each component is also positive, both at expected standard and also at exceeding standard.
  • Maths and GPS are also improving fast but remain lower than Reading and Writing, with GPS still slightly below national averages.

Scaled scores also show that KS2 in 2018 has risen to meet or exceed national in Reading and Maths, although GPS remains an area for the SIP 2018/19.

3. Outcomes for pupils in KS2 have risen strongly since the School came under new leadership and governance.

  • Specifically trends in Progress are positive – please see appendix 1

 

Progress scores show that there has been good improvement from 2016 - 18 in the examined elements of Reading and Maths and in Writing.

  • Clear upward trajectory for mathematics = improving to now in line with national as it is within the confidence interval however area For SIP
  • Writing shows a very clear rise and remains in line with national (note moderation in 2018)

4. KS1 outcomes are strong and support a 'good' judgment.

  • Historically results at KS1 were of a reasonable standard.
  • KS1 scores in 2018 are in line with national and are accurate. The LA moderated KS1 writing in 2018. Other work was moderated within the Trust.

5. Phonics screening is broadly in line with national

6. EYFS outcomes 2018 are strong

  • Scores in Early Years are also above the 2017 national average. These judgements were moderated by the LA.

EYSF Progress across the year tracked using EYFS Development Matters Statements. This in year tracking shows that pupils in EYFS are making good progress.

  • 19% expected
  • 54% good
  • 27% accelerated

This progress is measured by using best fit in age bands: 4 steps = expected, 5 steps = good, 6 steps = accelerated.

  • In Ks1 1/3 PPG children met expected attainment
  • In phonics testing ¾ children passed phonics screening
  • In EYFS 2/3 reached a good level of development

KS2 GROUPS:

 

The performance of disadvantaged pupils in 2018 tests also validates leadership of PPG as effective.

  • The cohort for the 2018 KS2 tests included 3 PPG children. Of these 100% achieved expected in RWM (above national for other) and 66% ( 2 pupils) of these achieved greater depth in reading.

Attainment and progress of SEND pupils 2017-18:

Overall children with SEND make progress in line with national from their individual starting points. In 2018/19 the SIP plan includes targets for accelerating progress for this group. Progress is tracked robustly through PUMA/PIRA , HODDER, Salford Reading Tests.
